salty sesame pastries are most of the time handy for our guests. Turkish people generally serve them with a cup of hot tea. They are crunchy and delicious. This recipe belongs to my friend Selvi. She is really good at preparing this pastry. Thanks again Selvi!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup of oil
  • 1 stick melted butter or margarin
  • 1 whole egg
  • 1/3 cup vinegar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • flour

sesame seeds

Preparation

First of all, put oil, melted butter and sugar in to a deep bowl whisk them evenly. Add salt, (separate the egg white and yolk, set the egg white aside) egg yolk and vinegar (to make the pastry crunchy) mix them together. Finally, sift the baking powder and flour(eye bowl) and add this mixture gradually to the oil mixture.

After you make sure it is a nice and smooth dough, start to give them a circle shape just like mini bagels. After you finished all the circles, brush them with egg whites and decorate them with sesame seeds.

Bake them into 350 degree oven for 35-40 minutes.
